WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN?

Wouldn't you like to know.

Football journalism seems to have gone two separate ways in the past few years.

On one hand, we've retained the stuffy and slightly dull broadsheet reporting - with a few noteable exceptions - that takes a certain deadpan pleasure from languidly describing a 30-yard volley in the most boring way possible, like a prostitute giving a handjob whilst checking their stocks.

On the other hand, we've got Facebook groups and clickbait-mongers who slap up the most pointless listicles and videos imagineable, desperately trying to scrape together as many views as they can for their genius insight into which Barcelona star has the hottest girlfriend.

We here at The Lunchtime Kickoff think that the intelligent and loyal football fans of the world deserve more journalistic integrity than this.

It's a mission to civilise. Like Don Quixote, but Diego Costa is standing in for Sancho Panza and the cardboard armour is my old '99/00 Leicester strip.

Thinking about it, Costa could easily be the donkey too.

We're in the business of funny-but-witty, silly-but-insightful and downright rude-but-necessary.

If you think you can write something that people will want to read, drop us a line. Every sports reporter started somewhere.

TTFN.
